[Maze PIC] Chapter 2.   BlackBerry Application Basics

A BlackBerry smartphone can run the same Java applications – called MIDlets – that an ordinary Java Micro Edition handset can run. However, to create applications that are better integrated with the BlackBerry platform’s philosophy, Research in Motion has defined an alternate type of application, often called a RIMlet. In this chapter you’ll see how to develop, build, and install both MIDlets and RIMlets. You’ll also learn some of the differences between the two to help you decide which type of application is best for your game.
